There is no need to rush out and purchase new gear as the pack has plenty of loaner equipment. In fact, you may already own some similar equipment and that will be just fine. Your scout will need a backpack, water bottle, sleeping bag, tent, camping mattress, raingear, sunscreen and bug repellent. They will be given a compass and whistle, but they are not allowed to have a knife until 3rd grade or a source of fire until 5th grade.
